Nevado Pisco is the perfect peak for novice and expert alike. The peak can be climbed or skied. Either way, be sure to do it on clear day to take in the incredible 360-degree views of the range.

Elevation Gain: 1,150m from base camp (Refugio); 850m from moraine camp.
Grade: PD.
Time: 5 hours from Marain Cam; 8 – 9hours from Base Camp (Refugio).
Equipment: Crampons, 01 long axe, a 60m rope, 01 ice crew and several snow pickets for recue crevasses.

- Permits: No permits are required to climb Mt. Pisco, but it’s recommended to check in with the local authorities and obtain any necessary climbing information before your ascent.
- Guides: While it’s possible to climb Mt. Pisco independently, many climbers opt to hire local guides from Huaraz for safety and navigation purposes, especially if they lack glacier travel experience.
- Equipment: Essential equipment for climbing Mt. Pisco includes crampons, ice axe, helmet, harness, ropes, and appropriate clothing for cold and windy conditions. It’s also important to bring a good sleeping bag, high-altitude mountaineering boots, and a sturdy tent for camping at high altitude.

Day 1: Departure Lima - Huaraz
- Arrive in Huaraz, the base town for treks and climbs in the Cordillera Blanca.
- Check into your accommodation, acclimatize to the altitude (3,052 meters/10,013 feet), and explore the town.
- Organize any last-minute gear rentals or purchases.
- Drink a lot of water.
- Don´t eat greasy food.
Day 2: Adventure Beggins
- Depart from Huaraz early in the morning and drive to the Llanganuco Valley (approximately 3 hours).
- Begin trekking from Cebollapampa (3,900 meters/12,795 feet), following the trail towards Pisco Base Camp.
- The hike to Base Camp takes around 4-5 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and lakes.
- Set up camp at Pisco Base Camp (4,600 meters/15,092 feet) and spend the night acclimatizing.
Day 3: Go Higher
- After breakfast, begin the ascent to Moraine Camp (around 5,200 meters/17,060 feet).
- The trail involves steep sections and navigating through rocky terrain.
- Arrive at Moraine Camp and set up tents for the night.
- Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the summit push.
Day 4: SUMMIT
- Wake up very early (around 2-3 am) to start the summit push.
- Begin the climb under the light of headlamps, ascending the glacier towards the summit.
- The climb involves crossing crevasses and navigating icy slopes, roped up with your guide.
- Reach the summit of Mt. Pisco in time for sunrise, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
- Take photos, celebrate your achievement, and then begin the descent back to Moraine Camp.
- Depending on the pace and conditions, the descent may take 3-4 hours.
- Pack up camp at Moraine Camp and descend back to Pisco Base Camp for the night.
Day 5: Return
- After breakfast, break camp at Pisco Base Camp and begin the descent back to Cebollapampa.
- Meet your transportation at Cebollapampa and drive back to Huaraz.
- Enjoy a hot shower and a celebratory meal in Huaraz.
- Reflect on your climb and the incredible experience of summiting Mt. Pisco.
