Quick Itinerary

  • 03:00 AM: Pick up at your hotel in Huaraz and drive to Punta Olímpica.
  • 05:30 AM: Arrival and start of the rocky moraine approach.
  • 07:00 AM: Reach the glacier edge. Gear up (crampons, harness, helmet) and rope up.
  • 09:00 AM: Summit of Nevado Mateo (5,200m). Enjoy 360° views of Huascarán, Chopicalqui, and Contrahierbas.
  • 10:00 AM: Descent back to the vehicle.
  • 02:00 PM: Return to Huaraz.

Included / Not Included

Included:
  • Certified  Mountain Guide (Basic English speaking).
  • Private round-trip transportation from Huaraz.
  • All technical mountaineering equipment (helmet, climbing harness, crampons, ice axe, climbing rope).

Not Included:
    • Huascarán National Park entrance fee.

What to Bring

  • Clothing (Layering system): Moisture-wicking base layers (no cotton), warm insulated jacket (down or synthetic), waterproof rain jacket and pants, and fleece pants.
  • Accessories: Warm gloves or mittens, and a warm hat.
  • Sun Protection (Very important at 5,200m): Glacier sunglasses (or high-quality ski goggles for high winds), strong sunscreen, and SPF-rated lip balm.
  • Gear: A daypack (climbing pack) to carry your layers and snacks.
  • Food & Hydration: At least 2 liters of water in bottles (or a hydration reservoir) and high-energy food/snacks like energy bars or trail mix.
